Dr. Karen Price - AI: The Language Teacher's Friend or Foe?
The goal of this talk is to promote reflection on the nature of meaningful uses of artificial intelligence in language learning. An app developed by the speaker will be viewed and discussed, and participants encouraged to develop their own ideas regarding how to best use and adapt, when possible, some existing AI affordances.
A former lecturer on second language acquisition and CALL at Harvard and Boston University, Dr. Price has received awards for the development of early prototypes of technology now commonly used, such as lexical search of video. Her focus now is the Internet of Things, building and connecting physical objects embedded with sensors and processing ability.
